CRCR testing

I've completed the course and I'm planning on taking the test in about a week. I wanted to refresh and study before taking the exam.  One of my co-workers (who hasn't taken the course or exam) doesn't understand why I just don't "take it while it's fresh on my mind", and now she has me second guessing my plan.  I am already feeling some anxiety about failing it.  I would appreciate some insight from those who have taken it.

  • I don't think a week is too long to wait. If it's best for you to wait and add more study time, then please do so. The anxiety you feel already could hinder your results if you rush to take the exam before you're ready.

  • Hello, thank you for checking in on your exam progress. Since everyone has their own study and/or timing method for taking exam's we recommend taking when you feel most prepared yourself. Example: if you retain the content studied well then wait a bit. Please know that if unsuccessful you are able to retake the exam after a 30-day waiting period. Below are some additional study tips to aid in your preparations.

    • If needed, retake the pre-tests at the beginning of each of the 4 sections; this will help determine what areas to further focus your studies.

    • Set aside time to study and review – uninterrupted, without distraction. If you’re multitasking while reviewing the course, you won’t retain the information.

    • Capture your notes for areas you need to focus more on. You can do this within the course under the “Notes” section or in the Key Concepts Guide.

    • Make sure you understand the learning objectives that are presented at the start of each course. The learning objectives of the eLearning course can be an excellent road map during online learning.

    • At the end of your review look at those objectives again and make sure you can achieve them (Recognize, Identify, etc.).

    • Ensure you thoroughly read the material as the assessment questions do tie back to the content you’ve learned.

    • There are checkpoints to check your understanding in each section presented. Be sure to answer those and if you get one wrong, understand why it was wrong.

    • Review and Revise - regular revisions of the things you have already studied will not only improve your memory, but they will also help you better understand what you are learning.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Best of luck on your exam attempt.

  • I took the test this morning and passed!  Yes, it was tough and you really need to think before you move on to the next question, but you can do this!

    1. I have been in healthcare for 39 years.  I passed the quiz builders and the practice exam and still failed the actual exam.  NOTHING on the practice tests was on the actual exam.  I am so aggravated with the whole certification process right now.
  • Hello Brenda, thank you for sharing your experience. I understand how frustrating it must be, especially with your extensive background in healthcare. While the exam may feel overly challenging, we want to reassure you that every question is designed to align with the core competencies outlined in the content framework and not intended be outside the knowledge base. Note that the pre-tests, quiz builders and practice exams are designed to reinforce core concepts and identify knowledge gaps, and they won’t always reflect the exact content of the live exam. That said, your commitment to preparation is commendable, and we want to help.

We’ll be reaching out to you separately to offer assistance and support your certification journey. You're not alone in this, and we're here to help you move forward with confidence reviewing materials and when retaking the exam.
